The World Bank defines the poverty as the state of the person who doesn’t possess the minimum amount either in money or the material possession which has been decided by the World Bank. The destitution is defined as the person doesn’t possess the basic human requirements, which includes nutrition, education, health care, clean and fresh water, shelter and clothing.

Causes of the Poverty
Structural readjustment – Typically, when the World Bank or any other institution or rich country promises the foreign aid for any country, it also keeps some conditions which has to be complied by the recipient country to get the promised foreign aid. It involves the opening up of the country’s market to the foreign goods which further elevates the poverty.
Food Aid – Food aid by the foreign country is also a cause of the increasing poverty in the recipient country as it drives out the local food from the market and increase the poverty of the farmers.
Poverty has been the major cause of the death and destruction around the world when compared to the various natural and manmade disasters like tsunami, flood, fire, war and earthquake. It is also the major cause of human trials and trails. As per the Poverty Statistics, around half of the world is poor by the standards of the World Bank reports. This has created the great gulf between the rich and the poor people which in turn has been creating the social and political instability in several countries and has given rise to the all types of crimes like robbery, corruption, assault and the murders. The social and political unrest can also be attributed to the cause of the poverty statistics.
